Our students develop strong and innovative skills in design methodology as well as fabric production techniques. A very creative programme that offers a unique balance between theory and practice covering market areas of fashion, interiors and working towards gallery pieces as well as a multitude of other pattern and fabric applications! Students work independently whilst moving towards their selected pathways of print, weave or knitted textiles.
Our honours class work on topics of their own interest that showcase their knowledge, skills and talent in both traditional and cutting-edge approaches suitable for their end user and market. They devote their time to experimentation through to high levels of finishing for their final pieces. Topic areas include for our print students: storytelling, human connections and memories , craft process and home dyeing. For our knit students; interactive and playful textiles for family environment, tactile knits for childrenswear and designing adaptable & multi-use fabrics for slow fashion and longevity. Our weave students explored mindfulness and wellbeing through tactile, cocooning blankets; woven screens for flexible home working environments; and pattern motifs inspired by similarities in cultures and religions, rather than the differences and divisions.
