Women throughout history have been depicted as the embodiment of beauty and grace. Grecian artists displayed the female form draped in cloth accentuating their natural shape, capturing a sense of movement frozen in stone and displayed like goddesses.
Sculpture explores the concept of movement and fluidity frozen in statues reminiscent of the drapery found in feminine sculptures from the Grecian eras. By using unconventional textile manipulation techniques to create pieces of wearable art that flatters and highlights the feminine form paired with luxurious tailored garments, the collection recreates the look and feel of a Grecian goddess for the wearer.
the sculpturural pieces are created from plaster, draped over the female form to subtly accentuate and flatter the curves hidden under the creases of the drape. paired with garments made from a selection of natural blends of silk, crepe, cotton and satins in a variety of soft tones of white inspired by the stone of the sculptures. The fabrics add to the ethereal sense by contrasting the matt of the plaster sculptures with silky soft textures. To emulate the goddess aesthetic and further the luxury feel of the collection, each outfit is adorned with an intricate gold chain finished with a matching 3D printed model of the original clay sculptures that helped inspire this collection.
A custom made solid corset sculpted from plaster, mesh and finished with epoxy resin, made to look like fabric draped over the female form but in a solid armor like effect. Paired with elegantly tailored flared trousers made from a light silky crepe-backed satin to contrast the matte finish of the sculpture. A silk cape made from steam pleated organza and custom jewelry added to complete the look.
A backless mini dress made from a fine plush corduroy finished with luxurious chain straps. On top, a plaster, mesh and epoxy resin sculpture draped over the wearers hips to accentuate and flatter the wearers curves and tied at the back with chain finished with custom 3D printed charms. To complete the look a pair of custom mesh boots adorned with a wrap sculpture over the shoe.
