The project explores the relationship between different technologies such as Augmented Reality, Photogrammetry, Indoor Localization, and making the museum spaces accessible, inclusive as well as interactive for visitors. Eòlas comprises different elements of these technologies in order to make every museum visit highly engaging, immersive, and interesting.
EÒLAS, a word that means knowledge in Scottish Gaelic, is a smartphone application that improves and enhances the museum visiting experience for individuals. The application aims not only to educate the users about the exhibitions and artifacts on display at the museums but also to promote accessibility and inclusivity. Augmented Reality based features are incorporated to make every museum visit highly immersive, engaging, and interactive for the visitors. This application can be downloaded on different smart devices like a Smartphone and Tablets and can be used remotely.
