DESIGN FOR TEXTILES

Cultural Habitat

My collection takes inspiration from floral and architectural settings in Spain and England. This collection fuses both cultures together in order to create innovative and contemporary print designs for the spring and summer fashion fabric collection. The collection explores ways to upcycle polyester fabrics in response to the increasing awareness of sustainability within the textile industry.

The fabrics in this collection are sourced from fully recycled polyester and natural fabrics. The polyester and natural fabrics are printed and collaged separately in order to maintain the recyclability of the fabrics (reduces the possibility of blended fabrics). The embroidery uses also contributes to the collaging of the fabrics which creates a juxtaposing effect of nature and technology, Spanish and English, realistic and surreal.
