Public satisfaction with general practice is at an all time low. The number of individuals who report having trouble getting appointments and accessing community based basic healthcare services continues to rise.
The Health Hub will provide fully fitted and fully compliant clinical and multipurpose spaces for GP and medical professionals in high street locations throughout Scotland. It will be a drop-in health hub created to provide community members access to medical services closer to home. This very simple solution solves several high profile social and economical issues. Helping to alleviate GP surgeries, hospital pressures and waiting times, whilst bringing back footfall and life to the high street.
The major space consists of consulting pods, consulting rooms and a bespoke curved seating area.
The space is open plan to enhance visibility between patients and staff.
In the context of a healthcare environment, sensitivity to visitor experience is essential, as feelings of anxiety are often present. The use of natural materials and an open-plan layout are essential to creating a feeling of ease and comfort.
The focus is on who will be using the space and how it will make them feel.
In addition to 3 consulting rooms there are 4 consulting pods, these add shape and form to the space. The pods are clad with recycled timber and insulated with high performance acoustic materials.
The walls in the major space are clad with birch plywood sheets. LED lighting is installed throughout the building, together with spotlights overhead. This is a practical choice for the space as there is less natural daylight at this end of the building. It will help to improve alertness in the consulting rooms, pods and seating area. The lighting design offers a constant light level throughout the day.
The specified multi coloured system allows you to dim and change the tint of the lights according to the mood or purpose.

The curved seating area softens the space The seating is upholstered with a thick, deep heavy textured recycled boucle. A material that cocoons the body and is soothing to touch. The colours are floral, fresh and nature inspired, humanising the space.
