Coorie

A/W 23/24

Inspired by Scottish Lifestyle movement, Coorie, and WGSN A/W 23/24 trend forecast, Care Culture, this collection acts as a response to what a ‘new normal’ may look like.

Coorie encourages people to strip back their busy and chaotic lifestyles to refocus and reprioritise what really matters, influenced by what Scotland has to offer form textiles to landscapes.

The collection will explore new and old craft techniques, combining them to create a collection that has a presence of strength, unity and comfort.

The overall purpose of this collection is to act as a conversation starter into alternative ways of living, whilst tapping into key topics such as sustainability, conscious living and slow fashion.

The three outfits made aim to portray different elements of Coorie form fabric choice to silhouette, whilst encouraging slow practices by using techniques that are timely and demand your attention.
All outfits are 100% plastic free and use all-natural materials such as wool, cotton and leather.
All outfits have a voice of strength, comfort and unity, key principles to take forward as we build our new normal.

Outfit One

Linen trousers with 100% wool knitted jumper and felted wool tabard.
The belt is made from cotton denim with a laser etched mountain design and scrap leather buckles.
The knitted jumper celebrates traditional craft techniques with a difference, as it was knitted using my arms instead of needles and used 6 yarns at once as opposed to one.

Outfit Two

Wool trousers and linen top with gathered features and a wool shawl over.

Exploring traditional Scottish textiles, I designed my own tartan which was then digitally printed onto 100% cotton fabric.

Outfit Three

Wool trousers, herringbone pleated half skirt, one shoulder top with a gathered corduroy top over.
The cut outs in the over top are drawn from my research to 'coorie in', as these sections are the contact points when you hug someone.
The half skirt is inspired by traditional kilt techniques, with the under top and sleeves being made from the same fabric.
The bag utilises all the off cut yarn from outfit one, by making a non-woven fabric to construct the outer fabric of the bag.
