Manazura & Sudara

My Publication and Portfolio names translate to Acceptance (Manazura) and Beauty (Sudara) in Punjabi. It explores themes of me becoming more comfortable over this years as growing up in Britain as a young South Asian was not easy. Manazura challenged me to style and direct photoshoots of male models in a fusion of looks that blend both Eastern and Western influences together. Sudara showcases a range South Asian women model referencing my journey of gradually growing more confident and finding beauty within.

This image of my model Jordan is from my photoshoot named ‘Street’ from my Publication. I choose a street location and featured the familiar bandana paisley print as the focus. I drew inspiration from the print being inspired by luxurious South Asian Banarsi patterned fabrics used in garments and textiles. I styled a mixture of print proportions and textures for the pattern on pattern look.
