BA (HONS) DESIGN FOR TEXTILES

Everyday Beauty

This project aims to create a collection of knitted fabrics for slow fashion womenswear through providing options and versatility with less outcomes. Inspiration comes from everyday walks in nature, resulting in intricate and delicate fabrics, capturing forms and elements from nature through stitch. Yarn is an integral part in the sustainability of fabrics and so I have chosen yarn that is natural, biodegradable and dyed responsibly.

Thoughtful design is approached with seasonless colours, adaptability through embroidery, appreciation of nature and considering the impacts of my decisions. I explore timeless stitches such as lace and cables with a contemporary approach, focusing on intricacy by generating texture through stitch. I investigate reversibility and adaptability in fabrics as this offers variety, providing options for updating colours to ensure relevancy in time to come.
