BA (HONS) DESIGN FOR TEXTILES

Natural Rhythms

Natural Rhythms is a collection of woven fabrics created for room dividers. I aimed to design an interior space using woven textiles as interactive and movable walls that provide visual and mental calmness to bring comfort and privacy. I have looked at soothing and fluid forms of room dividers that let people have more control over the space and are more contemporary than the four walls of traditional architecture. The room dividers offer adaptability for people as our lives are constantly changing in this current climate. Inspired by natural flowing curves, light, wind, and the touch of the landscapes that I love, I create a sense of escapism and that allows the user to feel safe within woven walls which evoke a sense of wind in the grass, light on water, the touch of earth and other mindful moments. Patterns and textures are taken from the rhythmic flow of nature, from the tides and seasons.
