BA (HONS) DESIGN FOR TEXTILES

Yorkshire's Coastal Countryside

Yorkshire’s coastal countryside takes you on a journey along the coast across to the vast moorland. I have designed a collection for interior wallcoverings, inspired by Whitby, surrounding fishing villages and hidden houses in the valley taking on board personal features intertwined within each design. Each design tells a story and are created from hand sketches and paintings, layering up different elements and textures inspired by William Morris and Timorous Beasties, allowing me to develop my unique contemporary design style. By using AVA, all my designs have the option to be screen printed. Colour inspiration is taken from both photographed scenes and spring/summer 21 trends to create a coherent collection.

Here are a couple of my A3 drawings taken from my sketchbook, capturing the essence of what Whitby is all about. I use fineliner to create the majority of my drawings. I have also used watercolour to add the brightly coloured roof tops.
