BA (HONS) DESIGN FOR TEXTILES

Pashteeze

I aimed to produce a menswear collection – specifically for young people working from home. I explored traditional crafts such as Chinoiserie wallpapers and Bizarre-Ware ceramics and reinvented them in my graphic drawing style. During the pandemic there have been a lot of social changes such as “back to nature” trends, exemplified by fashion and performance-wear companies (like Gucci and North Face) collaborating to create stylish essentials. So, I wanted to use a mixture of comfortable and functional fabrics such as utilitarian durable ones like cotton-drill and more luxurious fabrics like silk. I experimented with leather and waterproof fabrics too for jackets and accessories. However, the most important aim of this collection is to be bold and whimsical as post lockdown society will want to dress flamboyantly. To create a feeling of escapism and joy for the wearer I drew a mixture of exotic animals to create a fantasy environment.
