The Witching Hour

‘The Witching Hour’ captures a dark sense of beauty blending it with how the unknown territory we are living through, is reviving a feeling of mysticism, as people adopt radical approaches towards their lifestyles and belief systems embracing their ambiguous futures. This collection was inspired by a period of history without the presence of a central belief system, looking deeper into the ancient wisdom of those before us, where nature was integral to our physiological, physical, and spiritual selves. This results in a refreshing attitude to design, as a renewed sense of mystic spirituality is unveiled reconnecting people to the earth, circling back to folklore witchcraft and pagan beliefs. My concept was formed around my own interest in these movements and concentrates further on my personal surroundings and experiences as I explore the nature, landscape, and spiritual history of my home in Scotland through my designs and fabric making.

The collection is designed to draw attention to this shift towards holistic living. I wanted to grasp the beauty in the dark and mystical visuals associated with these mythologies and elevate this into a fashion realm.

I focused on alternative ways to approach textiles through my own fabric making, manipulation and dyeing to design a collection that is suited to those evolving with these changes in society.

Due to the pandemic and having to complete our graduate collections at home, we complete 2 full outfits from out collections. I made outfit 4 and 6, from my line up using my eco-dyed fabric, fabric manipulation and macramé design.
