BA (HONS) DESIGN FOR TEXTILES

Forest of Fables

Forest of Fables is a scarf collection for young, sophisticated woman, inspired by the nostalgic, classic children’s book Aesop’s Fables. I was influenced by the illustrator Charles Santore and textile designers; Sabina Savage, Pig,Chicken&Cow and Aspinall of London. The use of storytelling through textile design has always been inspiring to me, especially during these times. To be taken back to my childhood memories of reading and learning the morals of life through these fun stories has been a wonderful inspiration. I produced a wide range of detailed hand drawings of the animal characters, alongside my own photographs of woodland areas around Galashiels, which inspired my digital drawings and pulled together my final collections. Sustainable and ethical design is very important to me and influenced my fabric selection. I used 100% bamboo to produce a calming, fun and charming collection.
